Learn Greek with Greek myths

A message from Dimitra:

“Hello, my name is Dimitra Adami and I am a philologist with many years o teaching modern Greek as a foreign language in Greece and in France where I lived and worked as a language assistant and a modern Greek language teacher for three years.

As a lover of Greek mythology I decided to create a channel on Youtube presenting different myths which have shaped the way people tried to explain the world in different historical periods of the ancient era, the Byzantium and even today as myths carry an inner strength and force. Greek mythology can be thought as a way to perceive the natural world when science was still absent. The revealing thing about Greek mythology is how the archetypes of the world are depicted through the actions of the Gods and the omnipresent nature which comes to life. Come with me in this wonderful journey through space and time and discover learning Greek through the Greek mythology!

Intro for the first presentation:

Mythological events from the life of Goddess Athena

In a time of myths and legends, in ancient Greece, how did people explain the balance of power?

What did the ancient Greek gods look like and how did they behave?

What did they fear the most and what did that mean for the ancient world?

Throughout two mythological events concerning Goddess Athena, Zeus and Poseidon we will launch a debate discussing how the power relations were perceived in ancient times and we will try to explore whether such power relations exist in modern days and which form they have today, in an attempt to link the past and the present. Come with us in this trip in space and time!”
